Editorial policy
NRI News Now explains official rule changes that affect non-resident Indians. This page sets out how we choose, research, check and correct our stories.
Primary sources first
Every story is based on an official notification or primary document. That could be a Gazette of India notification, a Reserve Bank of India circular or direction, a ministry order or press release, an Income Tax Department form or FAQ, or a foreign government's law or regulation. The main document is named and linked in the Official source box at the top of each story. Other documents and reputable secondary reports we relied on are listed under Sources at the end.
We do not publish rumours, unconfirmed proposals presented as final, or claims we cannot trace to a document. If a detail cannot be verified, we leave it out or say clearly that it is not confirmed.
How we use AI tools
We are open about this. AI tools help us with research and drafting: finding and summarising documents, comparing versions of rules, and producing a first draft. AI does not decide what we publish.
Every story is reviewed and fact-checked by the editor, Ashwani Kumar Srivastava, against the official source before it is published. That review covers names, numbers, dates, section and rule references, and the practical steps we suggest. The editor is responsible for everything published under the byline.
Writing standards
- We write in our own words. We quote official documents only briefly, and always with attribution.
- Headlines say what happened. We do not use clickbait.
- We separate what a rule says from our explanation of what it means for readers.
- Where a rule is still a proposal, or details are pending, we say so.
- Dates and times are shown in Indian Standard Time (IST).
Not advice
Our stories are general information. They are not legal, tax, financial or immigration advice. Readers should check the official source and consult a qualified professional before acting. See our disclaimer.
Independence and advertising
The site may carry advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisers do not influence our coverage. We do not accept payment for stories, and any sponsored content would be clearly labelled as such. Links to our sister site, AskNRIGuru.com, are to free tools and guides. We include them only where they help readers act on a story.
Updates and corrections
When a rule changes again or new official guidance appears, we update the story and change its "Updated" time. Factual errors are corrected promptly and noted at the end of the story. Our corrections policy explains how to report an error.
